3 Steps To Achieve The Perfect Twist Out On Natural Hair

3 Steps To Achieve The Perfect Twist Out On Natural Hair

We all want a perfect twist out. Our twists should be defined, moisturized, and glowing from the inside out. Achieving a perfect twist out is easy once you know exactly what to do. We are here to help as we break it down into 3 easy steps. Each step is important as it allows you to not only have a perfect twist out but a long-lasting one as well.

Here they are:

1] CLEANSE, CONDITION, AND DETANGLE

You need to cleanse, condition, and detangle your hair to get the best results. Cleansing your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo allows you to start on fresh and clean hair. When you follow up with a thick moisturizing conditioner it will replenish your hair with the moisture that was removed from the shampoo. Also, it will soften the hair so that it is easier to detangle, as well as to style into a twist out.

2] LOC METHOD AND TWIST

To retain as much moisture as possible you have to do the LOC Method to seal moisture into your twist. This moisturization technique where you layer your hair strands with Liquid, Oil, and Cream (in this order). It allows you to moisturize and seal in the moisture so that your hair stays moisturized longer. Therefore, your twist-outs will be defined, moisturized, and shiny for up to 7 days.

LIQUID – Water is the best hydrator for our hair.
You would dampen or spritz your hair with water to hydrate it. Once your hair becomes hydrated, your curls will start to swell as it absorbs it. We would recommend using water in moderation, as it extends the air drying period for 4a , 4b , and 4c hair types..

OIL – Oil and water do not mix.
Next, you follow up with oil to seal in the hydration added by the Liquid. The oil will coat the water molecules along the hair strands to prevent the hydration from escaping. Our growth serum or moisturizing oil spray are great options to help seal your hair as they are filled with a variety of organic and growth stimulating essential oils.

CREAM – Creams (and butters) will seal in everything.
The final step is to seal in everything using butters and creams. They act as another protective layer to hold unto the hydration added from the liquid. As well as they are rich in other minerals and vitamins that will nourish your hair by strengthening and adding sheen to your tresses.  Examples of creams/butters to use: Lotus Hair Butter, Shea, Grapeseed, and Mango Butter.

After you have successfully moisturized, it’s time to style your natural hair twists. You have the option to use a cream or a gel-based styler. A gel-based styler provides your curls with a thick hold. And cream-based stylers provide your hair curls with a soft hold. It is really up to you to choose the best type of styler. And more importantly, use an organic styler. You want your stylers to be using organic ingredients that will nourish your curls from the inside out.

3] UNTWIST WITH CARE

The final step is to untwist each twist with care. Ensure that your twists are 100% dry before unravelling them. You should be air drying your hair or you can use a blow dryer on cool air (if you’re in a rush). Next, apply a few drops of your favorite oil to your fingertips. Then, unravel each twist from the tips to the roots. Remember to be careful because you want to retain the definition and hold.

With these 3 steps, you will get the best results of your twist out. Your twist out will be extra defined, moisturized, and shine to last 5 to 7 days. Let us know in the comments your twist-out results.
