How To Get Rid Of Dry & Itchy Scalp
You’ll find loads of recipes circulating the Internet for itchy scalp home remedies, but do any of them actually work?
1. Peppermint oil This oil is known to be effective at reducing dandruff, soothing the scalp, and calming down itch. This is one of the 20 essential oils used in out Lotus Growth Serum. Try diluting it with another oil, such as olive oil, and massaging it into the scalp before shampooing or use peppermint tea as a rinse after shampooing.
Evidence suggests that peppermint oil applied topically might also be beneficial for tension headaches and migraines.
2. Lemongrass oil This oil is another oil used in our Growth Serum that is known to be an effective treatment for dandruff, according to a 2015 randomized controlled trial.
In this study, 30 participants applied a lemongrass oil solution to one half of their head and a placebo solution to the other half. After using the solution twice daily for 2 weeks, the lemongrass formula had reduced dandruff compared with the placebo. A 10 percent lemongrass oil solution was more effective than a 5 percent solution.
3. Aloe vera This is known to be very moisturizing and gentle on the skin – that’s why it’s found in lots of products for sensitive skin like our Lotus Curl Defining Gel.
Aloe vera gel can give you an immediate cooling and soothing sensation, reducing that scalp itch.
But, the effects are only temporary, because it doesn’t tackle the root cause of the itch.
How to tackle itch with a shampoo Our Revitalizing Shampoo cools on contact, providing relief from an itchy scalp straight away.
It tackles dandruff and the associated itch fast, and gives long-lasting protection.
